ABOUT KEVIN JONEs -
Kevin Jones is a critically acclaimed touring singer / songwriter / worship leader with multiple releases available on iTunes and is a new artist in the People & Songs Community. He is currently working on his 1st full length record set to release in 2019!
Over the past decade Kevin has worked with many great songwriters/artists. He helped write "Once For All" that was recorded and released by Shane & Shane, as well as has worked with them on their worship leading training website called "Worship Initiative". He also helped co-write w/ Shane Barnard on “Holy, Holy, Holy (We Bow Before Thee)” which is on their Hymns (Vol. 1) record that released in the fall of 2018. Kevin has been featured on Jimmy Needham's Hymns record where he sang on "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and was also featured on Charity Gayle's record where he sang on the title track "Lord You Are My Song".
Kevin is a true son to The Father. Their's is a beautiful relationship that was forged in a very difficult crucible which served to make him the grateful servant of the Lord that he is today. As a boy, In August 1995, Kevin's mom (Linda) sadly lost her 3-year bout with cancer and she went home to be with her Savior. A few months after her passing, his dad (Chris) sat him down and painted a simple picture of the Gospel - letting him know who he was as a sinner, BUT who Jesus IS as his SAVIOR (Ephesians 2). At 8 years old, through his mom’s death, Kevin surrendered his life to Christ.
Throughout his twenties, his eagerness and obedience to follow Jesus has led Kevin all across the US and to different countries, including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Russia, Mexico, Barbados and Spain. He has had the opportunity to partner up with OneLife and International World Changers, both branches of the International Mission Board, serving missionary field reps. One of the songs Kevin co-wrote with fellow People & Songs brother David Gentiles titled "I Need Jesus" was used as a prayer by David Platt (president of the IMB) over all nations.
One of Kevin's favorite times of the year is when he gets to serve at The Emerging Sound camp. He loves to pour into the younger generation and help point them to Jesus in their songwriting. Kevin helped write 2 songs on The Emerging Sound Vol. 3 album, including "Let Revival Come (Revive Me)" as well as the title track "Never Look Away". On YouTube, “Let Revival Come (Revive Me)” has had over 2 million views and was nominated for a GMA Dove Award in 2018. Another project Kevin wrote and is featured on is the The Emerging Sound (Vol. 4). He wrote and was featured w/ a fellow People & Song’s sister, May Angeles, on the track titled - “Never Wanna Go Back”.
Racial reconciliation is another area of Kevin's heart that he is passionate about. He loves seeing people of all backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities coming together to worship the One true King. He believes in cultural harmony through music, ultimately believing that music is a great “bridge” to help sever division within the church.
Kevin has faithfully used his talents and gifts to share Jesus’ gospel message to diverse people groups. His music is a delightful fusion of Soul, Pop and R&B. His unique style has easily extended beyond the confines of genre, denomination, generation and ethnicity with the wide-reaching, cross-culturalal, unifying love of God. Kevin is a proud Texan and and an even-prouder husband who had the privilege of marrying his best friend and joy of his life, Christina. He and His wife currently live in Colorado Springs, Colorado where Kevin is on staff at Calvary Worship Center as the Worship Director.

ABOUT KEVIN'S 1ST EP "HEART & SOUL" -
It's been said that there are two sides to every coin. For Kevin Jones, this is most certainly the case. Growing up as a young creative in Dallas, Texas, Jones quickly found his voice through listening to great soulful singers like James Taylor, The Mills Brothers and Frank Sinatra. "I was raised with music all around me. My family would gather every holiday and sing old barbershop quartet and big band tunes." These proved to be a great fit for the smoky voiced Jones, who quickly married his singing to his skillful guitar work. As a boy, Jones knew he was on to something when he won his school's talent show in 4th grade with just his voice and a ukulele. It seemed his path was clear. Sadly, life took a dramatic turn in 1995 when Jones' mother lost her bout with cancer. It was an earth shattering loss for the boy. He shares that he found comfort for his soul and answers to his questions when, as an eight year old, he became a Christian.
Years later, Jones found himself in an unexpected line of work: Church planting. In the fall of 2009 he helped start Stonegate Church in southwest Dallas where he still serves. For the past seven years Jones has been the worship leader of a growing congregation. "I wanted to paint a bigger picture with music. A picture of a God who loves us more than we could ever understand." In 2012 his passion for worship and of pop music came to a head as he contemplated making his first solo EP.
The current artistic climate is one of divisions. We are desperate to categorize music as one genre or another, and no divide seems greater than between mainstream and Christian art. It looked as though there were two very different roads for Jones to take. He could either embrace his passion for soul-pop music, or continue down the road of making worship songs for the Church. In a clever move, Jones has chosen to do both. The 'Heart & Soul' EP is a six song portrait of a whole person. A record you can roll the windows down to and just drive, or fall on your knees in worship. From faith to romance, from the trivial to the weighty, from folk to pop, this project is broad in its reach. It is not, as one might think, a 'house divided' but rather a complete thought. And may I add, refreshingly so. This debut from the Texas native has both heart, and is good for the soul. There are two sides to every coin, and I for one am glad that both Kevin Jones and his music show us both.
